About Dayspring Academy
.
Dayspring Academy is a charter school concentrating on high academics and the arts.  Dayspring began as an idea created by a group of community members from New Port Richey in September 1999.  From this group a board was formed including educators, business leaders, and legislative employees.  This board became a non-profit organization calling itself Creation Foundation, Inc.
Creation Foundation met regularly with families in the community to brainstorm educational ideas, needs, and goals, and the charter was granted in March 2000.  In April of the same year, Dayspring received over 170 applications for enrollment in grades K-5. The school was able to accommodate 131 of those applicants.
In the summer of 2003, the dream of Dayspring Academy grew.  A local civic association took an interest in Dayspring.  Embassy Hills Civic Association interviewed several community groups and decided to donate their facility, land and contents to Dayspring Academy.  Embassy Hills donated a 9,000 square foot building on 2.75 acres of land in Port Richey, 7 minutes away from Dayspring’s existing campus.  In September 2003, Dayspring Middle School moved over to the new facility.  Embassy Hills Civic Association still meets in the building and a pleasant interaction between the generations is enjoyed.

This year, Dayspring has reached a milestone, our tenth year of operation.  Dayspring Academy continues to be academically ahead of its class continuing to perform as an “A” school as has been done since its opening.   Our arts programs now reach out to the entire community with Alpha Rho Theata (A.R.T.), an affordable, high-quality after hours arts program for children through adults.  Our after-school program, ACT II, reinforces academic skills before and after school along with art, dance, theater and community outreach.  ACT II offers a full summer program for students K-8.  Dayspring “goes global” this year with its first humanitarian trip to the Dominican Republic.  Families will reach out to an orphanage in the DR, learning to serve the underprivileged.  Visitors are always welcome at Dayspring to observe the quality education that is given on a daily basis.  Please call for a tour Monday through Friday during school hours.  Thank you for visiting Dayspring’s website and as always, have a great day at Dayspring!
