FAQ's

If my child was approved last year for Free or Reduced lunch, is it safe to assume they automatically qualify this year?
No, a new Free/Reduced Price School Meals Family Application must be completed and turned into our office each year to determine eligibility.

If you child was approved for Free or Reduced lunch, am I required to turn in the bi-weekly lunch coupons? Yes, our kitchen staff uses the lunch coupons to determine the meals counts. If lunch coupons are not turned in on time your child will receive an emergency lunch for the duration of the current coupon.

Do I need to fill out a separate lunch coupon for each child, or may I put them all on one form? We require a separate form for each child as they are calculated on a class/grade basis.

If I have paid for a lunch and my child does not receive it due to a student activity or fieldtrip, may I receive a credit? Unfortunately, we do not offer credits for any purposes other than an extended illness. Please try and plan accordingly. If you know your child will be out due to illness for an extended period of time, please contact the Middle school (847-9003) immediately. Please note that all credits are at the discretion of the Lunch Program.

In the event that my child forgets to turn in a lunch coupon, can my child still receive the school lunch? The kitchen staff pre-plans how much food to cook based on the lunch coupons they receive; therefore, we may not have enough of the regular planned meal to feed additional children. Our policy is to serve an emergency lunch to children who have not turned in a lunch coupon.

What does an emergency lunch consist of? Our emergency lunch consists of a cheese sandwich, fruit/vegetable, and white milk.

How much does an emergency lunch cost and how des the billing process work? We charge $3.00 for an emergency lunch and families are billed weekly.

What is a Wellness Policy? Dayspring Academy was required to adopt a wellness policy during the 2006/2007 school year. This is a written plan that states how we will try to promote healthy living to our students. You may view our Wellness Policy by clicking here.

Other Benefits

If your children receive free or reduced price meals, they may also be eligible for free or low-cost health insurance through Medicaid or the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP). Children with health insurance are more likely to get regular health care and are less likely to miss school because of sickness.

Please refer to page 5 of the Application for more details.

Dayspring Academy requires that an application be completed and returned to Dayspring Academy.  If you have children attending other Pasco County Schools, please ensure the Dayspring application is completed.  Applications for other Pasco County Schools are not eligible for consideration at Dayspring, as our lunch program is not part of the Pasco County School lunch program.

Please refer to the Application for more details.
